From MoveOn:
Hundreds of thousands of Americans are boycotting Target after the company tried to buy the Minnesota governor’s race for a far-right, anti-gay, anti-immigrant Republican.

Target is really feeling the heat, and now university and college campus community members have a great chance to crank up the pressure even more by getting your school to join the Target boycott.

Just yesterday Washington University in St. Louis became the first campus to officially sever its ties with Target after school officials canceled a special shopping event Target had planned for incoming students – because of the school’s strong anti-discrimination policies.1

Campus promotions are really important for Target’s marketing strategy and if we can take a bite out of their profits from campus partnerships, they’ll definitely take notice.

Can you help by asking the administration at your school to officially join the Target boycott by publicly committing not to hold any Target-sponsored events on campus until Target stops trying to buy elections??

You can also help by:

Once you’ve spread the word, send an email to targetboycott@moveon.org to report what you did.

Most people on your campus probably don’t know that Target just became one of the first corporations to take advantage of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision allowing unlimited corporate spending to buy elections by giving $150,000 to a front-group backing an extreme-right candidate for governor in Minnesota.

So that means that if we shop at Target our dollars are backing a candidate who supports Arizona’s draconian immigration law, wants to abolish the minimum wage and even gave money to a fringe group that condoned the execution of gay people.2

Please ask the administration to support the boycott and report what happens by emailing targetboycott@moveon.org.
