July 8. Several hundred in the corrals plus scores on the sidewalk.
::
The protest in front of 250 Park Avenue where the HQ of Major League Baseball is located was strong, evocative. A great example of Democracy in action. Well organized. Ethnic news media out in force. Online news media also stronly represented. Mainstream corporate media were, so to speak, represented by WPIX and CNN whose news reps were working the holding corral where the rally-ers were confined and there were sidewalk interviews). And there were lot of reporters jotting notes in their stenos but none were wearing a NYPD Press Pass which the mainstream reporters sport prominently. So, it’s safe to assume that the mainstream corporate news organizations were milquetoast for this event (though threre was a few seconds of action on Channel 2, the NBC affiliate for the 5 o’clock news). Nothing in later editions of the newspapers.
