Saturday, January 14 — Lori really enjoyed this opportunity to see relatives and old friends and to introduce them to Salvador and we enjoyed each precious moment playing with Salvador. In compliance with stipulations in the travel permit, Lori and Salvador have now returned to Peru. Noncompliance would have resulted in her arrest and imprisonment.

Although other foreign parolees of terrorism-related crimes have, in the past, been permitted to visit their home countries on a regular basis, negative reaction to Lori’s visit resulted in the Peruvian Congress passing a law that prohibits such foreign parolees from traveling outside Peru in the future.

Thus, Lori will not be able to return home until her sentence is completed. We are, however, grateful to have had at least this wonderful visit
